In my wisdom I’ve decided that I need a smart goal – specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-orientated.
My goal is to “accumulate $100,000 by 31st October, 2010 through my business (Internet marketing centric) which will allow me to quit my day job and travel to England secure in the knowledge that when I return I will have enough money to live for at least the next year to 18 months”.
That’s specific and measurable and certainly time-orientated.
I’m not so sure about the achievable and realistic. To go from $18.95 to $100,000 in a year sounds like quite the challenge, especially considering it took me half a day to work out how to log in to my site to actually go about making changes.
Still … there is no point beating around the bush. This is what I want. To travel to England.
I haven’t just picked a figure out of the air. I’ve been reading “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill and one of the things he says is to pick a goal that would blow your mind if you achieved it. If I had a $100,000 my mind would totally be blown!
And the first thing I would do would be quit my job and catch the next plane to England.
So … that’s the goal. I’m a little thin on the how right now, but that’s a small issue.
Right?
