We got unconditional approval on our mortgage today. That means that the contract for the house will go unconditional and a little over a month from now I will actually be a homeowner.
At work someone asked me if I was excited and I had to stop and think about it.
I am excited, yes definitely, but no more today than I was yesterday or last week and a lot less excited than I was a couple of years ago when I decided that I would get my own home.
And that’s the thing. I’ve been rehearsing what it would be like to own my home for so long now that it actually seems kind of routine. Almost like, yes, yes, been there done that, lets get excited about other things.
Like working for myself and making lots of money.
And travelling to England … mmm walking through Whitechappel at night, riding the millennium wheel, driving through narrow country lanes. Awesome!
The real excitement of buying the house for me comes in knowing that we actually did it. And just as we planned.
More importantly, if that rehearsal came true why not all the others.
Now thats exciting.
