So this is it, the end of NaBloPoMo for July. I was going to write a momentous speech about what I’ve taken away from this month of blogging but August is about to start up which kind of kills any melodrama this ending actually had.
Am I going to take advantage of August? I would like to. I enjoy writing here, and of course everything is getting cross posted to lisarutland.com so it’s a way to build backlinks. Crass I know to view this as simply an opportunity but there you go. I make no bones about it. I want to be a successful blogger earning enough money so that I can leave full-time employment and work from home part time generating the same income doing work I love from anywhere in the world.
It’s just lucky that what I love is learning. And I love to help people.
I’m doing coaching at the moment with the 6 Minutes to Success program with Bob Proctor. It consists of watching videos each morning and then taking the time to reflect on the message.
This morning the message was about service. It was called Paying The Rent, with the rent being the service that we offer to other people. The lifestyle and success we enjoy is earned through the service we pay to others. To increase your success, increase the level of service that you’re offering to others. Today’s lesson is to reflect on ways that you can do that.
This is a bit of a stumper for me. I like to help others. I’d love to do it for free. Not everyone has the same drive and desire to learn that I do and I respect that completely. I don’t have the same desire and push for socialisation that other people do. Part of moving forward for me has been accepting that I have my own skill set that is quite different from others and it has value. But how do I use that to be of services to others?
NaBloPoMo has been useful for me in answering that question, or at least in putting me on the path. Speaking up, sharing my opinions and views is a essential. I have a view of the world that is different from others. I had different experiences, education, relationships and so on and so forth and all those things combine to give me a unique position from which I view the world. We all have this unique perspective. I love to read blogs because I gain so much from reading about other peoples perspective. Perhaps I have something to share by expressing my perspective. It’s a great thought and I’m finding expressing myself to be really empowering.
But how can I be of more service to others? What do people want to hear about? What is helpful and what is just meaningless drivel. I don’t just want to add to the noise on the Internet I’d love to be of real help in other peoples lives because that helps me.
It occurs to me that the best way for me to find out how to be of service to people is to, you know, ask. So tell me how can I be of service to you?
