Recognize that you didn’t get to you openness to kicking the diet habit and becoming more accepting of your body weight – if you are even there now – overnight. It probably took a long time for you to be open to reading this book, to accepting the futility of dieting, and to knowing there is a better alternative, and you yourself may be somewhere along that journey, still not totally convinced. We can’t expect others to be magically transported there. It takes time for anyone to make this journey, and we need to be patient with others’ process as well.
Profound words of wisdom there from Linda Bacon.
Reading that it got me thinking, HAES is a lifestyle practice, like yoga or a church group. It’s has no destination as you would a diet. I’ve succeeded when I get to this weight.
Which really rather begs the question how do I know I’m succeeding with HAES?
Which is all I’m going to leave you with today because I’m sick and bogged down with work and generally feeling very miserable indeed.
Catch you tomorrow.
